The first time I picked up the Carrier crossbody bag, my first thought was: “I’ve seen this before.” That was mostly because of my long experience with the Road 2.0. On paper, the two bags look very close. Similar format, similar volume, similar purpose. But in real use, they turned out to be completely different products for different people.
In short, the Road 2.0 is an excellent everyday companion with plenty of pockets. But there is one nuance: the shape of the main compartment lets you keep stacking things inside until it turns into a kind of perfect mess.
The Carrier follows a different philosophy. Every item has its place. Yes, it still gives you the same 10 liters of volume. But thanks to its narrower format, you never get lost inside. Everything stays clear and easy to reach. Laptop here, keys here, power bank here, and so on.
Even the look of the bag points in the same direction. Compared to the Road 2.0, the Carrier has a more restrained design and feels closer to professional gear with a subtle tactical edge.
If you are choosing between the Road 2.0 and the Carrier for the first time, the decision may seem difficult. In reality, there is no wrong option here. Many people I know chose the Road, but just as many went for the Carrier. Every choice was deliberate. Everyone wanted functionality, just with a different character: more dynamic or more restrained.

The Carrier comes only in black, including the GUD logo. To me, that only reinforces the restrained look mentioned above. It looks clean, sharp, and understated. With the carabiner and other accessories included, the bag feels even closer to professional equipment.
Material Features
As always, the materials are excellent. The bag is made from CORDURA® 1000D, one of my personal favorites. Even though this fabric speaks for itself, it still deserves a closer look. To me, CORDURA® 1000D is almost a synonym for eternity. It has outstanding resistance to tears and accidental punctures. If it can serve for years in tactical gear and handle extremely harsh conditions, then in the city it feels completely at home.
The additional PU coating provides reliable protection from rain and bad weather. Ever since GUD bags and backpacks became part of my daily life, rain and snow have started to feel less like a problem and more like a test. I know the things inside will stay dry and protected. The same cannot always be said about me.
The front panel is made from high-performance X-Pac® ripstop, a durable and waterproof fabric. Both materials offer very similar practical benefits, but combining them in one product also creates a strong visual contrast.
The bottom of the bag is made from durable DWR vinyl POLYMAR®. It is easy to clean and does not crack in freezing temperatures. That has already been proven over years of using GUD products in very different conditions.
There is also a compression strap with a MOLLE system on the front panel. It allows you to attach additional hardware or accessories with ease.
And despite its restrained design, the Carrier is easy to personalize. For that, it features a velcro panel for your favorite patches.
This crossbody bag also has a top handle, so you can grab it by hand when needed. It is probably not the best option for carrying it over long periods, but it definitely comes in handy in public transport or in tight spaces like an elevator.
The main shoulder strap is soft and comfortable for everyday use. Its length is easy to adjust, and it features ventilation mesh for better comfort in hot weather, just like the back panel of the bag. There is also a velcro panel for patches. One nice detail: on the Road 2.0, this type of strap has to be purchased separately as an accessory. On the Carrier, it is included by default.
Inside the Bag
The main compartment closes with a water-resistant zipper. Inside, there is a dedicated pocket that fits a MacBook up to 14", along with eight separate pockets for the essentials you want to keep within easy reach every day.
As mentioned earlier, there is enough space for keys, a power bank, cables, headphones, and a tablet. The bag also fits A4 documents and books without any trouble.
And of course, there is the bright yellow 210D nylon lining. It is not only durable and wear-resistant, but also makes it much easier to find what you need in low light.
Overall Impression
After a few weeks with the Carrier, I realized one thing: I'm glad I bought the Road before this bag came out. Not because one is better than the other, but simply because I weren't faced with a difficult choice.
Even though they serve a similar purpose, I still found myself thinking about getting the Carrier as well.
This bag is very well put together and thought through in detail. It works perfectly for a full workday, especially if you work from the office. Documents, laptop, charger, and you are ready to go. Then you come back for your lunch box, throw it in, and keep moving.
It also works great for walking around the city or for anyone who prefers to keep all the essentials close at hand. And thanks to its narrower internal layout, the Carrier does not let you pack more than you actually need.
